Let me say before you watch this video that Alyssa's outfit has been retired and she will never wear pants that are too short again!  It's a 9 months size and after seeing this video I realize that she's FINALLY grown out of it!

Disney on Ice

Addison and Alyssa loved Disney on Ice!  I expected to see more of Mickey and Minnie, but they were basically just the hosts.  There was a storyline that included them as tourists throughout the show.  As they traveled from place to place different Disney characters took to the ice.  Tinkerbell, Lion King, Peter Pan, Lilo & Stitch, and Little Mermaid.  We had great seats very close to the ice rink.  Well, they were great if you didn't have to carry a 20 pound baby UP the steps a couple of times - going down the steps to our seats wasn't a problem.

Alyssa fell asleep right after intermission and slept until I put her in car.  I'm not sure how the slightest noise wakes her at naps and bedtime, but the sounds of Disney on Ice didn't bother her!  

What's Going On?

Last weekend I took Addison with me to the nail salon.  I was planning on getting a pedicure and just getting her toenails painted.  We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy, so I skipped the pedicure and we both only got our toenails painted.  Addison picked out our colors, pink for her and blue for me.  Luckily, I was able to convince her that blue wouldn't look good on my toes and she opted for purple!  She was so good and I look forward to many more trips to the salon with her (and eventually Alyssa).

Blake and I went out to dinner alone for the first time in almost 16 months.  We had a great time and promised to make it happen monthly!  Steak, shrimp and uninterrupted conversation at Tokyo is just what I needed and it was washed down with a glass of wine!

The girls love going to Chuck E. Cheese's!  I wish our closest one wasn't stinky and icky!

Coloboma Update

Alyssa had a check-up this week at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston with the pediatric ophthalmologist.  I'm thrilled to say her eyes have corrected themselves since our last visit and we start going yearly now!  The doctor is convinced the coloboma in Alyssa's left eye is just cosmetic and won't impair her vision, but it's still an eye 'defect' that needs to be monitored closely for the first few years of her life.

Once the nurse put the drops in Alyssa's eyes to dilate them we were sent to a dimly lit waiting room.  Blake was thrilled when he saw a Nintendo 64.  The gaming system looked like it was from 1964!  He was like a kid at Christmas!

Lipstick Thief

It was only a matter of time before this happened!  I'm pretty sure I know what some of her stocking stuffers will be this year!

I've been getting lots of crafty ideas and recipes from Pinterest and tackled one last weekend.  Don't be impressed.  It's just ribbon and fabric glue!  Well, I also hand-stitched the bow, but that's it.

Play Date Crafts & Naps

I left Alyssa at MDO for an hour again while I went to the store.  She cried when I left and when I picked her up.  Poor baby!  I'll be doing it again tomorrow!

Clean baby!

Maggie came over to play, so I decided to do a paint craft with the girls.  I was way more into it than they were!

Addison hasn't napped in the past 2 weeks and I had decided that she was completely done with naps.  Every day I make her go to her room for 'quiet time' and if she naps then that's great.  Today after lunch she told me she was going to get a drink of water and then to her room for 'quiet' time, but NOT to nap. About 30 minutes later I didn't hear her so I went to check and she was napping.  Ahhhhh it was a beautiful sight!  She needed some rest and I guess it finally caught up with her.

Picnic in the Park

We need to take advantage of the warm days that are left before the cold arrives, so we took a trip to the park for a picnic and to feed the ducks.  We stopped by Chick-fil-A and picked up lunch for me and the girls along with an extra bun (yes, just one) for the ducks.  When we pulled up at the park none of the ducks were in the water.  They were stalking the parking lot just waiting for someone to bring them food. I've never seen the ducks so hungry.  We made our way to a picnic table as far from the mass of ducks as possible.  All of the tables sit atop a concrete slab and have a roof.  The ducks won't come up on the concrete, but they sure stuck around the edges!

After lunch it was time to get out our ONE measly bun and feed 1,000 ducks.  Well, feeding the ducks out of the water is a little more difficult since they can get so close - too close for my comfort.  This is where I wish someone had a video of what happened.  I was pushing Alyssa in the stroller and Addison was walking right beside me.  These freaking ducks were coming from all over the park to eat our ONE bun.  It was so scary.  I started breaking off pieces and throwing it as far as I could behind us to get the ducks off our backs!  Keep in mind I'm pushing a stroller and holding onto Addison by her shirt trying to explain exactly WHY she couldn't feed the ducks!  Once we were almost to the concrete sidewalk I chunked the rest of the bun at the ducks and finally could breathe a sigh of relief.  Unbelievable!

We spent a little time swinging and sliding after getting chased by the ducks!  There was a lady with 2 1/2 year old quintuplets playing at the park too.  I watched her closely as she handled those babies all by herself.  And to think I was once afraid to leave the house alone with my TWO!

No, she wasn't running from any ducks, but I

When we were leaving those hungry ducks were still stalking the parking lot!
