Memorial Day 2015

Time for our first trip to the lake this year! The water was freezing, as it usually is around Memorial Day, but the girls didn't seem to mind!

Last Day of Preschool - Alyssa

Alyssa wasn't going to go to school today for her last day. Last night, she changed her mind. She is going to miss all of her friends that will be attending other schools in the fall. I think there are 5 kids from her class that will be going to kinder with her at our school. I hope she will have some familiar faces in her class!

Our time at this incredible preschool has come to an end. Alyssa is now a preschool graduate! She did a great job singing and remembered all of the words. Grams joined us in celebrating this accomplishment.

Houston Dynamo Soccer

Blake got free tickets from his company to attend the Houston Dynamo soccer game. The girls enjoyed it, but towards the end Alyssa said she was ready to go home and get in her bed.

Surprise Lunch

I volunteered to help make smoothies for teacher appreciation week recently. As I was signing out at the front desk I noticed the time was 11:05. Perfect timing to surprise my girl for lunch!

Addison's 7 Year Well-Visit

Another year older, another yearly well-visit! Addison weighs 47lbs (32nd percentile) and is 45.5 (12th percentile) inches tall. There are some questions about her height. The office records show she hasn't grown much in the last year. Last year she was 44.8 (29th percentile) inches tall. I disagree. She has outgrown her pants in length and she has to step off the stool when I fix her hair now. My theory is last year they didn't make her take off her shoes like this year. We go back in 6 months for a height check. The doctor emphasized to Addison how important it was to eat plenty of veggies and meat in order to grow. She also said that asthma medications have been known to slow growth. Her asthma is well-controlled and she will continue to use Pulmicort each morning in the nebulizer and take her Singulair pill each night. Since she's been on these meds (last July) we rarely have to use albuterol for asthma attacks. The most it's used is when she has a cold and needs an extra hand keeping her airway open and calm. The doctor prescribed a double order of inhalers to have on-hand at school and away from home.

Happy Mother's Day 2015

It was a great Mother's Day! These sweet girls gave me all kinds of goodies. I cherish the handwritten cards and homemade crafts. Now that Addison can read and write, she doesn't need any help with the cards she makes. Such an amazing feeling to read what your child wrote to/about you (good or bad) knowing it was straight from her little mind and heart.

Welcome Home to Danny

Danny is finally home from Kuwait and we made a quick trip home to celebrate!

In case you ever wondered, 10 pounds of catfish is about 7 pounds too much for 4 adults and 4 kids!

Memaw

The girls were so happy to spend time with Memaw recently! Her visits are never long enough and we can't wait to see her again very soon!

Flu Follow-up

 Remember back in February when Addison was diagnosed with the flu? Yeah, me too. Well, I fell ill with the flu that Saturday night and tested positive on Monday morning and started the treatment dose of Tamiflu. I don't remember ever having the flu, but will never forget this time. It kicked my ass and took a couple of weeks to fully recover. We suspect Blake had a very mild case of the flu. He was never tested, but displayed the symptoms. He took Tamiflu also. Alyssa never even got a sniffle and soldiered right on through flu season. Addison felt better the next day, but I kept her home a few extra days from school.

Power Washing

Our neighbor told me a while ago that I could borrow his power washer whenever I wanted. One day I started washing and never wanted to stop! I cleaned everything in my path. Patio, trampoline, bench, swingset, grill, patio table/chairs, driveway. It was surprisingly fun!

Oil Ranch Field Trip

The 1st grade field trip was to Oil Ranch last month. There were train rides, hayrides, swings, bouncy pillow, and all of the typical farm animals. Everyone had a great time!

Addison wasn't sure about feeding the cow! The cow was sure though!
