Potty Training?

Alyssa is really into using the potty lately.  Today she told me she needed to potty a couple of times and when I took her to the bathroom she had a dry diaper and USED the potty!  August isn't a good time for hardcore potty training.  We have lots of trips planned and I know we need a solid stretch of time to really learn the potty without any distractions.  I'll continue to follow her lead for now and see where that goes.  Addison was trained at 27 months, so I don't think it's too early.  I wish we still had wood flooring throughout our house.  It sure made clean-up a snap!  I don't even want to think about accidents on carpet right now.  No, no, no!

Zoo Day

We went to the zoo and saw the dinosaur exhibit that is on display right now.  It's pretty cool how they created the dinosaurs to be so lifelike.  They move around and make dinosaur growls.  Addison loves dinosaurs and loved the exhibit, so we thought she would also love the 4D  dinosaur movie that was playing.  Huge fail!  Not even 5 minutes into the show and she was scared and ready to go.  Alyssa wasn't crazy about it either.

Bad Sun

I thought I had a window of opportunity to take a few pictures of Alyssa by this pond while it was overcast.  Just my luck as soon as I sat her on the bricks the sun reared it's ugly head!  Alyssa is pretty sensitive to the sun, so we always have a hat and sunglasses on hand.  I was just trying to get a pic without the shades!

Ever since the girls both got sick back in June, Alyssa has started waking at night wanting to come to my bed.  She was doing so good and now I feel like I have a newborn again.  My choices are 1) rock her to sleep and put her in the crib 2) bring her to bed with me (this guarantees that we all sleep  3) sleep training - again!  I don't have a problem sleep training, but have avoided it since we live in an apartment right now and her crib is on a wall connected to the apartment behind us.  But. it looks like I'll just have to be the bad neighbor that lets her baby cry at night in order to get her back on track.  It'll only take a night or two, so I may go ahead and get it over with.  

This book would be perfect to read at bedtime, but now that she's talking....not a good idea!

Waffles

It's been a while since I attempted to make homemade waffles with the circus animal waffle maker.  I thought it would be cute to do circus related things leading up to the big circus day even though they didn't know we had a trip to the circus planned.  The waffles didn't turn out very well.  I don't know why I can't make a waffle!  We ended up using the batter for pancakes.

The Plague

Plague, stomach virus, call it what you want.  I actually call it a shitty week!  Alyssa had it on Tuesday, Blake and Addison had it on Thursday, I had it on Friday.  Really?  Yes, really!  Please don't let this vicious cycle repeat itself anytime soon.  We had circus tickets already purchased for last Friday morning, so I took some medicine and put on my happy face to struggle through.  The circus was lame.  We should've just went to the zoo.  Cheaper and much more fun.  Don't get me wrong, the girls were totally surprised when we walked in and realized we were at the circus.  The first hour mostly consisted of clowns chasing each other,  a man holding a telephone poll, and a someone walking a tightrope.  After intermission Alyssa fell asleep and missed the elephants and tigers.  Addison wasn't impressed and said she was ready to leave.  So, we left.  This pictures are of my sad attempt to document our first circus.

Alyssa's 2 Year Well-Visit

The well-visit that was scheduled for last Wednesday also turned into a sick visit.  On Tuesday, she started vomiting when she woke up and by noon had done it 4 more times!  I went to the store and got 3 flavors.  Of course, Alyssa didn't like any of them :(  The dr said that she's seeing a lot of stomach viruses right now and Alyssa hasn't vomited since Tuesday night, it was likely a 24 hour bug.

Alyssa weighs 22.6 pounds and is 31.5 inches tall!  When Addison was 2 she weighed 28 pounds and was 33 inches tall.  Alyssa is a little runt.  The dr isn't worried about her weight even though she's only in the 5th percentile for height and weight.  Her growth curve shows that she can gain weight, but when she gets sick there's a setback and she loses a few ounces to a pound.  She got one vaccine and didn't cry at all.  I couldn't believe it.  I was just waiting to pick her up and console her, but she was totally fine!

Stickers

I don't think I had as much fun peeling these stickers off as the girls had putting them on the crib!  This happened right before bedtime and Blake couldn't understand why they had to come off immediately.  I have enough experience with stickers to know that the longer they stay adhered the harder it is to remove them!  

Alyssa Turns 2

Two?  2?  Really?  Yes, she's 2!  We spent her special day at home with a cookie cake, balloons, and presents.  It was a great day!

Little Swimmers

Addison fell asleep on the 10 minute ride to swim class last night, so she still looks sleepy in this picture. Alyssa was raring to go though!  Gosh, I have some cute kids!

More Lake

Boating/tubing, fishing, and playing in the pool!  Just another day at the lake!  I don't have any pictures of us tubing.  Me and Addison rode one tube while Erin and Parker rode another.  It was only for a minute or two, then Parker was done and Addison followed.  After they got back in the boat, Erin and I did some tubing.  

Lake Time

Swim Class: Day 2

SUCCESS!  Blake got in the water with Alyssa and I stayed over by Addison's class.  At first she wouldn't go shower off before getting in the water, so I didn't force her.  Then she decided she would shower, so I walked her over to do it.  Her class was already getting in the water.  We went back to the pool and she was very hesitant to get in and join everyone.  I decided to play the bribery card using ice cream with lots of sprinkles and it worked!  She got in and participated with the class.  I was so proud of her for being a big girl and doing something she was unsure of.  I gave her ice cream as soon as we got home with a million sprinkles!

Swim Class

Swim class started this week!  Alyssa is in the Parent/Child class and Addison is in the Pike class.  Alyssa loved every minute of being in the water learning how to move her arms, kick her legs, and blow bubbles.  She is also learning how to climb out of the pool.  Addison, on the other hand, wouldn't get in the water.  She loves the water, but didn't want to wear the little floatie that is required during the class.  She said that she will try again tonight.  I really hope that she comes around because I think that it would be very beneficial for her to learn some water basics right now.
