Day 1 & 2 of First Grade

I'm thrilled to say that Addison loves 1st grade! She got in the van after school on the first day and when I asked how her day was she said 'Great! No wait, it was great great! It was better than great!' She was so excited to tell me about 1st grade and was sure to tell me that she didn't even cry! Day 2 was pretty much the same...AWESOME!

Our sweet dental hygienist gave us a Frozen bow at our last appointment. She quickly realized that one wasn't going to work! Here is the newest one that she mailed to us!

I always make the girls hold hands in parking lots, but this morning I noticed they were holding hands walking up to the school on the sidewalk. It's the little things that melts my heart!

First Day of First Grade

Last night we read a special book about first grade! Not sure if it helped ease any worries, but she did great this morning! No tears from either of us! I had told her a few days ago that I would stay with her until announcements were over. Well, there was just me and another parent in the class. I told Addison that we were going to go ahead and leave. She reminded me that I said I would stay through announcements. Okay. After announcements we gave hugs and kisses and walked out. I saw a friend in the hall and asked her to look in on Addison. She did and reported back that Addison was fine and coloring. Whew! Let's hope this continues!

Addison & Asthma

Addison has been doing her daily breathing treatment for a month and there hasn't been much change. We followed-up with the pedi to let her know. She gave us Singulair to try for 2 weeks in addition to the Pulmicort daily. After 2 weeks if there isn't improvement then call her and she will modify the prescriptions. It may be that we need to see a pulmonologist. On the way to the doctor Addison asked if she was going to get a shot. I told her no and it was just a check-up. Well, after the pedi examined her and the visit was over, I asked if they had the flu mist yet. The pedi said they didn't have the mist yet, but had the shot. I said we would just come back for the mist. Yeah, then she said Addison couldn't take the mist because of her asthma! Oh no! Addison understood at that point that she was about to get a shot and began to cry :( I apologized and tried to explain the reason she had to get a shot and that I had no idea. Afterwards, we got ice cream and everything was all better!

Meet The Teacher

Ready or not, FIRST grade here we come! Last week was 'Meet The Teacher' and drop off supplies. We found Addison's class and met her sweet teacher! There were lots of other kids that previously had this teacher that kept coming in the class to hug her and tell her hello. I take that as a good sign that Addison's teacher is well-liked. There are several other kids in the class that Addison had in her kindergarten class. Her bestie, Reyana, is in her class too! This is great news! After meeting the teacher, Reyana came over for pizza and play to celebrate them being in class together again! We also met a new friend last week at the donut shop. The mom messaged me and said they were new to the neighborhood and noticed Addison's name on the class assignment. She wanted to meet up, so her daughter would see a familiar face on the first day of school. How could I say no to that? Addison and Britynn really hit it off!

Hope I see this same smile on the first day of school!

Play Dates

School is about to start and we are squeezing in play dates! Last week we went swimming with Ava and then another day visited the Museum of Natural Science with Malin and Juju! All of the girls loved the museum and it's focus on dinosaurs. We watched a Big Bird outer space movie in the iMax theater and then went digging for dino fossils. The date ended with a yummy lunch at Lupe Tortilla!

Special Friends

During our recent trip home we got to see some of our favorite people! The visits were short and sweet, but we enjoyed every second! Mila is growing like a weed and Parker is gearing up to start Kindergarten! 

We made a stop along I-10 to see our favorite ex-neighbor/BFF! I didn't tell the girls why we were stopping or who we were about to see. The look on their faces and reaction was priceless! Maggie, Addison, and Alyssa had the best time! (Travis was there, but didn't want to take any stinking pictures)

Late Birthday Gift

Look at that smile! All she really wanted for her birthday was Charmin Ultra Soft Mega!

Slumber Party & CEC

They all planned on sleeping together. One by one they left the air mattress. Alyssa got in bed with me, then Arabella and Hannah got in bed with Memaw. Addison and Logan fell fast asleep and stayed put all night.

Daddy's Toys

Some of Blake's old toys have found their way to our house! The classic wooden blocks and Legos are a hit with the girls! It's super sweet to watch them playing with these toys knowing that Blake played with them when he was little.

A Rainy Day at the Lake.....

is better than NO day at the lake! It rained quite a bit during our stay, but that's okay. It'll take more than rain to ruin a trip to lake! J.C. came over for the day and the girls were tickled to see him!
