Addison's Four Year Well-Visit

Addison weighs 37.5 pounds and is 39.5 inches tall!  She passed her evaluation with flying colors and went above and beyond on a couple of tasks.  Like, she had to draw a person/stick figure.  She drew a person and then showed the nurse how she could write her name.  She was asked to stand on one foot, clap, sit down, stand up, etc.  She also showed that she knows her left and right.  She can see and hear just fine, although sometimes I question both!  She said her full name when asked and also added the street we live on right now.  She said my name and Blake's name along with Alyssa's full name.  I thought Addison would be getting 2 vaccines at this visit, but it was THREE!  It would have been four, but luckily 2 are combined.  She won't need any boosters for many years, so that's a relief!

Grams and Pappy sent these outfits for the girls.  So cute!

 Addison was a sad panda after her appointment.  She could barely walk out of the office!  We went home and I gave her some ibuprofen right away and........ she took a nap!

Birthday Fun

We started off the day with a pop tart 'cake'!  Next we went to the park!  Then CFA for lunch!  Then Domino's for dinner!  Then webcam and cupcake time with Grams and Pappy in Australia!

Thank you for the birthday shirt, Casey!  It was the perfect shirt for a perfect day!

ADDISON IS FOUR!

Addy says:

• Sitting in the waiting room at pediatrician office & there's a lady across the room wearing jeans with holes in them.  Not many people there, so it was pretty quiet until.... Addison announces loudly "Look mama, her pants are broken" while pointing at the lady across the room!
• Blake & I were talking & he said I could probably go to a website for more info.  Addy speaks up & says "I want to go too!"
• I told Addy that I hope she has a good day at school.  She told me she hopes I have a good day at the store!
• Blake said something to Addy & ended the sentence with 'dear'.  Addy said 'I am not a deer'!
• I picked Addy up from school & we were driving home.  She told me I was a good driver!
• Blake kept going outside one night to see the 'super' full moon & addy told him to relax it'll come out soon!
• Addy told me she wants a violin & washboard for her birthday
• Blake told Addy it was time for her to get a job.  She said "no, it's t-shirt time"!
• Addy got a Band in a Box for birthday.  She was playing some music & asked me where her fans were!
• Addy saw the app for Twitter & insisted on playing the 'new' birds game!  
• I told Addy we were having Mexican chicken for dinner.  She said she didn't want Mexican chicken, just the Doritos!
• While visiting my dad the girls & I sleep together.  One morning we woke up & Alyssa reached over to get Addison's Elmo doll.  Addison quickly grabbed Elmo & told Alyssa 'No baby Alyssa, you should have brought your own Elmo'!
• Addy sat next to me with her vtech laptop & told me she was ordering pizza as she typed away!
• Addy got a fishing puzzle with ocean animals.  She asked me what one of the animals was & I didn't know, so she asked Blake.  Of course, he knew what it was & I told Addy that he sure knows his ocean animals.  Now she says "Dada, you sure do know your ocean animals"!
• Addys first time at mass.  As the priest & servers were walking to the alter she said 'look mama, a choo choo train'!  She said the same thing when after mass when they were walking from the alter.  I guess she thinks anytime people are walking in a line it's a train!  We do this game at home! 
• At church an elderly man tickled addy & she loudly said 'that silly old man tickled me'!  She also kept asking where Jesus was!
• Addy woke up one night and was whimpering.  I asked her what was wrong and she told me that she had a bad story!

I can only remember bits and pieces about the day Addison was born.  The labor and delivery part is vivid, but after that it gets blurry.  Maybe because it was such a whirlwind with her being rushed to the NICU and I didn't fully grasp the seriousness until 6 days later when she was discharged.  I asked our head NICU nurse, Joan, about Addison's footprints and she walked around the corner to the nurse's station to ask someone else.  I wish I would've never heard another NICU nurse say 'oh, we didn't get footprints on her...she was dead when she came in here'.  Joan immediately looked my way hoping I didn't hear those words, but it was too late.  She glared back at the other nurse and shook her head as if to say 'No, No, No'.  I was frozen.  I was confused.  I was devastated.  Joan came over to me right away and said 'come on honey, let's get that baby girl's footprints right now'.  She tried her best to make up for what I had heard.  I never told anyone else about this other than Blake.  It was just too much...  I still think about it and it still breaks my heart.  Thank goodness we have a beautiful, smart, funny little FOUR year old!

Big Deal

I stopped breastfeeding one week ago and moved Alyssa to her crib 2 weeks ago.  My little squirt has slept all night ever since!  This may not be a big deal to most, but after not sleeping through the night for 21 months....I'm shouting from the rooftops!  The only reason she was waking before while in the bed with me was to nurse.  I was like a 24 hour buffet of milk to her.  Not anymore and it FEELS great!

The girls love bubbles right now.  It's a fun, easy, messy activity for them outside.  Apparently, dangerous too since Addison has on her bike helmet! 

Party Time

The invitations have been mailed and party supplies purchased!  We are having an Olivia the Pig party this year.  Addison was pretty consistent requesting this theme.  She loves everything about Olivia!  

Mission: Get Baby Outta My Bed

Last Sunday when we got home from Louisiana I started putting Alyssa in her crib at bedtime.  She's been taking naps there for a month, so I felt she was ready for the move.  Friday night was our final nursing session and I'm so relieved to be done!  I've been breastfeeding for 33 of the last 48 months!  I think that deserves a trophy!

Last night at bedtime we read books and rocked as usual.  Alyssa asked for milk twice and I told her we would have milk for breakfast and she was okay with that.  She went to sleep at 8 and woke up at 1.  I changed her diaper and put her back in the crib.  We did the Ferber checks (5 min, 7 min, 10 min).  After the 2nd 10 minute check she fell asleep and didn't wake up until 8:30am!  Hallelujah!

Spring Break is Over

We are back home after spending last week in Louisiana.  It wouldn't be right if we went home and didn't get sick!  All 3 of us!  It started out as colds and then just went downhill from there.  Friday morning we went to the doctor and got fixed up.  I have bronchitis, got 2 shots and a breathing treatment in the office and 4 prescriptions!  Alyssa has an ear infection in her left ear.  Just 2 months ago it was her right ear.  She got a shot and one prescription.  Addison is allergic to Louisiana and is taking Mucinex and Zyrtec.

The nurse and doctor kept commenting how well-behaved the girls were!  It made me so proud.  Although, it's as simple as a little preparation like snacks, water, fully charged iPhones, stickers.

We met up with Avery & her mommy at CEC last week.  It was fun to spend time with Casey and watch the girls play!  Wish we could get together more often.

Avery brought cake pops for the girls and Alyssa decided she wanted hers for an appetizer!
