Lollipop Test Results

I met with Addison's teacher this morning to go over the test results.  Addison only messed up on correctly identifying right and left.  She knows her right from left, but apparently not on test day!  The teacher even said that Addison's knows right from left.  The teacher also said that Addison is very smart and didn't hesitate when answering questions or correctly naming shapes, numbers, colors, letters.  One part of the test showed a picture of a mom cat and 6 kittens.  The child has to talk about the picture.  Addison said the mom cat was bigger than the kittens.  There were 6 kittens playing.  One kitten was sitting in a bowl.  One kitten was climbing on the mom cat.  She did well on identifying things above or below an item, larger or smaller items, etc.

One of Those Days

A flat tire was the last thing I expected to find as we were about to leave for school yesterday morning.  My mornings are usually planned very carefully and something like this really throws everything off course.  After thinking for a few minutes of what to do, I decided to get out the owners manual and see if this was something I wanted to tackle.  Well, it wasn't meant for me to change the tire, because in front of the manual was my Honda Care card!  I forgot all about the protection plan we got when we bought the van.  One phone call and one hour later there was a man in my garage changing the tire.  I'm so happy the flat happened at home instead of on the road somewhere with the girls.

I took the van to the tire shop and will be getting 3 new tires this morning.  The tire that was flat had a screw in it and had already been patched twice.  You can only patch a tire 3 times, so this would be the last patch anyway.  One tire is less than 2 years old and is fine, but the others have lots of miles and are worn out.

The Lollipop Test

I've never heard of the Lollipop test, but after receiving Addison's summary report I decided to Google!  I knew there would be some kind of testing in prek to assess 'readiness' for kindergarten, just didn't know when, what, how, etc.  Addison scored 67 out of 69 total.  She has her daddy's brains!  Later this week, I'll meet with Addison's teacher to go over the test and see what it's all about.
The Lollipop Test is an individually-administered screening test of school readiness that contains four sections: 1) Identification of Colors and Shapes, and Copying Shapes, 2) Picture Description, Position, and Spatial Recognition, 3) Identification of Numbers, and Counting, and 4) Identification of Letters, and Writing.

The visit wasn't long enough with our friends, but I know we will see them again very soon.  I managed to get a decent picture of all 4 of them.  One picture of everyone looking at the camera and 50 others with each of them looking in different directions.  I expected nothing less!

Park

The fun was nonstop last week!  We went to the park for some lunch and to let the kids burn off some energy.  Our initial plan was to visit the duck park and feed the ducks, but there were too many people there.  Instead, we went to the park closer to our house.  It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time!

Bath Fun

Scrub a dub dub dub, three little girls in the tub!  I had a huge mess to clean up once the girls finished in the bath, but they had fun and enjoyed the excessive amount of bubbles and toys!

Alyssa loved the bubbles until they got in her mouth.  I made her suffer long enough to snap a picture though!

Visitors

Guess who came to visit us for a few days?  Angela, Maggie, and Travis!  The girls had no idea, so they were super surprised when our company arrived!

Toilet Seat

I should have gotten this seat a LONG time ago!  This seat has a built-in child seat that lifts up and down.  No more worrying about putting the little potty seat on for the girls and then taking it off for an adult.  Of course, Addison was the first to complain that the new seat isn't nearly as comfortable as the padded princess potty seat.  Maybe now they won't linger on the potty.  Get in & get out!

Spring Break

Addison is out of school this week for spring break.  We are enjoying a week of lazy mornings and not watching the clock or being on a schedule.
