Hives

Alyssa has hives now and I was looking back at old pictures to see if they look like the same rash Addison had that day.  I remember when Addison was sick on her 2nd birthday with pneumonia and we had to take her to the ER twice that day!  The first trip was for the cough - diagnosed with pneumonia and the second trip was from hives!  I came across our 2010 Elmo family picture!

I'm not sure if it's hives from the antibiotic she just finished yesterday or if it's from a virus.  I'll dose her with Benadryl for 24 hours and see what happens. 

 It doesn't look like the same rash that Addison had in 2010, yet!

Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music

We took the girls to see Sesame Street over the weekend and they loved it.  Addison was really into it and Alyssa was too for the most part.  Intermission was at the 45 minute mark and afterwards Alyssa fell asleep.  She slept through the rest of the show and until I put her in the van.

We got these Elmo outfits for the 'twins' last winter on clearance.  They were the cutest babies at the show!  Blake and I got our shirts for Addison's 2nd birthday since it was Elmo themed.

We got suckered for Big Bird and Zoe stuffed animals.  Zoe is Addison's favorite character and Alyssa was attracted to Big Bird at the time were buying Zoe.

We've learned that you don't have to spend money on the most expensive seats in order to have a great view.  We were on the 7th row and it was perfect.

 Our play dates are numbered with Maggie.  They are about to leave for a job up north and I'm not sure we will still be here when they return.  Hopefully, we will always keep in touch no matter where we are!

Duke Romper

I think it's basketball season?  Duke (Blake's favorite team) played the other day, so I decided to let Alyssa show her Duke love by wearing this romper that was previously worn by Addison!

Happy Mardi Gras

Memaw came to visit us this week and we all enjoyed her visit.  We celebrated her birthday by getting her some balloons (Dora and Thomas), cookie cake, and taking her to dinner at Tokyo.

Some babies get beads for Mardi Gras while others get an iPad!  Well, actually, they got both!  Alyssa was super excited about getting an iPad! 

The girls LOVE how big their games are now!  It's just an oversized iPhone, so they know all of the buttons to push and how to navigate to different apps.  I think we will all get lots of use from it!  Thanks, Memaw!

Two Babies, One Visit

We made a trip to the pediatrician this morning.  Addy slept fine last night with the help of the 'sleepy' cough syrup and didn't have a fever when she awoke.  I was relieved there wasn't a fever.  While we were in the waiting room Alyssa was pretty snotty and had a rainbow of greens/yellows coming from her nose.  I decided to get her checked out while we were there too.  Addy has a cold and is on round the clock breathing treatments to prevent full-blown bronchitis and an antibiotic to hopefully kill any infection she has that may be causing her nasty cough.  Alyssa has an ear infection that totally flew under my radar!  She is on an antibiotic and BroveX PEB with a follow-up visit scheduled in 2 weeks.  When we got home I went to put the numbing drops in her ear, but couldn't remember which ear was infected.  I thought it was the left as I replayed the pedi checking Alyssa's ears and making comments.  To confirm, I pulled out our ear check device.  Had I used this before the visit I could have told the pedi I suspected an ear infection, but seeing how I wasn't even planning to get Alyssa seen by the pedi, it didn't matter.  Anywho, it's her LEFT ear.

 We got put in the Pooh room again.  I think this room should be dedicated to my girls and will suggest this idea when we move from this town.  I wonder if the pedi office thinks I have nothing better to do than give them money every other week.  It seems like we are there every month between well-visits and sick-visits.

Oh, I don't even know what to say about this picture.  This little doll wanted to use the potty this morning before I changed her diaper.  No poop this time, but there was pee pee!  I'm still saying this is a fluke.

Potty Time

The little potty chair has been out in the bathroom for a couple of months now.  Alyssa loves to talk about going to potty and sitting on it and pretending to wipe.  It's quite hilarious.  Well, this morning as we were getting ready for school she came in the bathroom and said she needed to poo poo.  I asked her if she wanted me to take off her diaper and she said yes.  She sat there for a minute while I continued to get ready.  Then she stood up and said 'poo poo, mama'!  I didn't think for one second that she really used the potty, because we've done this song and dance before.  To my surprise, there was poop in the potty and she was one excited little girl.  I made the biggest deal about it by calling Addison and Buddy to come see and we gave high-fives and we danced and we cheered.  It was a sight to behold in our bathroom!  I remember when Addison was learning to use the potty, Buddy was the only one I could call to come see!

Today was Mommy & Addy day, so we dropped Alyssa off at school then went shopping and got our nails painted.  I'm pretty sure I need alone time with her more than she does with me.  It was really nice to only be focused on her for a few hours.

Unfortunately, as the day went by she started feeling bad and running a fever.  I checked her temp under the arm and temporal then thought I'd see if she could hold the thermometer in her mouth.  I have no idea when kids should be able to do this, but thought since she can follows directions (when she wants to) that I'd give it a try.  It worked!

Happy Valentine's Day 2012

The girls had their Valentine's party at MDO last Friday.  Addison's class also had pajama day, since last week was all about the letter 'P'.  She wore her 'P'ink 'P'ig 'P'ajamas!

Addison and Carly are the only 2 girls in that room FULL of boys!

Too much candy!

We went to the library yesterday and had another Valentine's Day party!  Addison was really into that story!  I finally got her to sit DOWN with the other cuddlebugs!  Not sure why the rest of the class sat so far away this time.  These 3 took over, I guess!

Twinkle Toes

 Looks like somebody wants a pair of Twinkle Toes for her birthday or maybe Easter.  Our Easter bunny usually brings gifts along with eggs and candy!  A girl can never have too many shoes!

 These two have a love/hate relationship!  I never know from one minute to the next how they are going to treat each other.  Alyssa loves to pull Addison's hair and Addison loves to push Alyssa down.  Then they are hugging and kissing and apologizing!

MOLARS & Magnets

Alyssa is getting 2 of her top molars + another bottom molar = no rest for me or her!  We've had some sleepless nights lately, but I'm so happy the end is near for teething.  I'm waiting to get through this phase before moving her to the crib at night.  She's doing pretty good for naps, so I'm hopeful for bedtime too!

We have LeapFrog Fridge Phonics and Alyssa decided to put all the magnets in her pajamas!  This game got old fast and I finally had to move the magnets our of her reach on the fridge!

Addison asked Blake to draw a picture of Dora and Boots holding a jump rope!  I'm glad she didn't ask me because I'm pretty sure Dora and Boots wouldn't be recognizable!

Bare Belly Baby

I got this picture of Alyssa shortly after dropping her off at MDO last week!  She kept putting her arms through the neck of the shirt and wiggling it down around her waist.  K left her like this all day because she wouldn't keep it on right.  

This is how she looked when I went to pick her up.  She was still shirtless and.....NAPPING!  She woke up when she heard my voice.  

Cough

Addison has a nagging cough that only occurs in the evening and has been going on for a couple of weeks.  I finally took her to the doctor today after she tossed her cookies last night from coughing so much.  No flu, no ear infection, no chest congestion, no sinus issues = allergies.  We are going to treat her for allergies now and see if that clears up the cough.  Breathing treatments, oral steroid, sleepy cough syrup, Zyrtec, some TLC!

Check out her new cool mask!  She's had a puppy mask for a while and it's time for the trash.  Now she has a fish mask that is too cute!
