Paint Party

The girls went to a paint party recently and had a great time! Alyssa painted a turkey and Addison painted a kitty. 

Sock Hop 2014

Addison's school had a Sock Hop last week! I debated for a long time whether or not to get these costumes. But, doesn't every little girl need a poodle skirt? 

Homework

Homework usually goes pretty easily. Addison has a little downtime when she comes in from school and then we get started. Here's a glimpse of what homework looks like at our house!

First Nine Weeks of First Grade

I can't believe it's been 9 weeks already! Last week school let out early for parent/teacher conferences. Report cards were sent home the next day. I picked Addison up at 10:50 and we grabbed a couple of Happy Meals for a picnic at the park. After lunch, we headed back to the school for my conference. Addison's teacher had nothing but great things to say about her. She's smart, funny, and a GREAT first grader! When the conference was over it was time to pick up Alyssa. We had to make another trip to the park, so little sister could have some fun too!

Pumpkin Patch 2014

Knots

Alyssa can tie knots. She will tie a knot in anything her little fingers can touch. I'm always finding knots in anything that can be tied! Last week, Alyssa came home from school and told me she was sorry about tying knots in her shirt. Every other day she brings me a Barbie or toy and asks me to untie a knot that SHE tied! It's quite funny, but annoying too.

Visitors

We had some visitors last Sunday! I finally got to meet little Candor and hold that sweet baby! He's pretty awesome! I would expect nothing less since he has KJ & Todd for parents! Todd tried to hand Candor to Addison to hold for this picture, but she quickly said no and scooted away. Alyssa (lil mama) couldn't wait to hold him though.

Picture Day

Last week was picture day at school. I snapped this one that afternoon when she got home. My girls always leave the house neat & tidy, but not when I pick them up! 

Liquid Stitch

I think I've talked about ruffles on clothes before. But, here I go again. When an outfit has a little flower or ruffle or bow that goes wild after washing, it drives me a little over the edge. Yes, ironing is a great idea...for someone else. I like a more permanent solution. Liquid Stitch is amazing for glueing the fabric down and holding it in place. It dries clear and continues to hold up after many washings.

Spirit Day and Spelling Test

Every other Friday is Spirit Day. The students wear their spirit shirts and get to shop in the school store. The class with the most spirit shirts gets popcorn at the end of the day. Addison's class gets popcorn a lot! A couple of weeks ago her class won Chick-fil-A gift cards for having the most parents signed up for PTA. 

Spelling tests are every Friday now. So far, Addison has done great with learning the words and writing them down.

Buddy & Bunny

Poor Buddy! The girls are always trying to dress him up with necklaces, blankets, clothes, and tiaras. On this day they decided the bunny needed to ride on Buddy's back. Luckily, Buddy is such a good sport about everything the girls put him through!

Cowgirl Birthday Party

Addison's BFF celebrated her birthday last weekend! The party was tons of fun and even had pony rides! 

Addison's Note

I sent Addison to her room yesterday for time-out. A short time later I went to talk to her and found this note on her door! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! At least she spelled all of the words correctly!

Banana Nut Bread

Alyssa went on a play date a couple of weeks ago. The mom served fresh baked banana nut bread. Alyssa hasn't stopped talking about that bread! We finally made some last weekend. It was delicious!
