Snow Days - Southeast Texas Style

Last Friday the city shutdown and then again on Tuesday. Friday was much worse than yesterday though. We never saw the mysterious white stuff called 'snow'. It seemed to be falling all around our house, but we only saw sleet. The kids were excited about a snow day and immediately began talking about snowmen and snow angels. We had to break the news to them that just because snow is in the forecast, doesn't mean it will happen. Yeah, they didn't really understand why the weatherman said 'snow' and mommy said 'no'. Addison said 'Mom, if the weatherman says it's going to snow, then Jesus will make it happen!'. Luckily, we have amazing friends in Colorado that share pictures and videos of tons of beautiful snow!

We stayed busy inside where it was warm and cozy. There was a lot of cooking/eating, playing games, napping, and watching movies. It was kinda nice to have 2 bonus days with girls. Even though they make my head spin sometimes, I really miss them when they are at school.

Texas Girl

Texas girls need Texas Girl hair products! Blake was stopping by the grocery store one day and I asked him to pick up some conditioner for the girls. He found Texas Girl for just $2 and it smells like cotton candy! I went back later and got the shampoo and detangler. It smells delicious and even leaves little specks of sparkles in the hair!

Oh Blankie, Oh Blankie!

Addison has a favorite tag on her blankie and it has finally worn out. At first, I thought I would take the torn tag as an opportunity to say 'hey, why don't we say goodbye to blankie'. However, the tears began to flow before I could suggest tossing her beloved blankie. I went and got her 'good' blankie and promised I would try to fix this one. Her 'good' blankie isn't in perfect condition, but much better than this one! One day we will toss blankie, but not today.

Class Picture

This is Addison's kindergarten class! That's her future husband on her left. We aren't planning a wedding just yet though. I'm sure there will be many more future husbands over the next 20 years!

This is a note from one of Addison's friends in her class. They are always exchanging sweet notes and drawings. I love it!

Say Cheese!

We rarely get a picture of the 4 of us together! One of my goals for 2014 is to take more pictures of me and Blake with the girls! Let's see if I can make this happen at least once a month.

Love

**This post is from June 2013** Alyssa is still sleeping in Addison's room.  This has been going on for a couple of months now.  It usually takes them about 30 minutes to settle down and go to sleep, but at least they stay in the room (sometimes).  They read books to each other, sing songs, talk & giggle, etc.  Alyssa still naps daily for about 2-3 hours while Addison has quiet time for little while.  When it's nap time, I only have to tell Alyssa once and she goes right to her room and lays down.  Within 5 minutes she's asleep.  It's rare that she refuses a nap.

Barbie Dolls

The girls got a few Barbie's for Christmas and a couple of Barbie outfits. I thought it would be great to pass down my old Barbie dolls and clothes to the girls. We found the suitcase full of Barbie dolls at my dad's house and managed to salvage a couple. A lot were missing body parts and most of the clothes from the 70's and 80's were nearly dry rotted. They didn't seem to mind though!

Pretty in Pink

I painted the girls fingernails for the first time ever recently! They always have their toenails painted, but never fingers. Addison bites her nails and Alyssa, well, she's three. So, Addison had been asking for her fingernails to be painted and promised she wouldn't chew on them. They are in love with having their nails painted now!

Alyssa the Burrito

Addison: Look mom, I'm making a burrito out of Alyssa! 

Halloween costumes aren't just for Halloween at our house. They are used year-round!
