Buddy Update

Last week, Buddy had an ear infection and was given antibiotics, steroid, and ear drops.  Well, Tuesday he began to act lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink anything.  I took him to the vet yesterday and she thought that his tummy was upset from the medicine and gave him a shot for nausea and anti-nausea medicine to take at home.  Vet said if he wasn't any better to bring him back for blood work.  He never would eat or drink anything yesterday.  This morning he could barely lift his head and showed no excitement over the usual things like going outside or getting a treat.  Alyssa had a follow-up appointment this morning to check her ears, so I had to drop Buddy off at the vet while I took Alyssa to the pediatrician.  Vet called while I was at pediatrician and said that blood work came back normal, but Buddy had a fever and was dehydrated.  Went ahead with an x-ray and it was clear, now waiting for fecal sample test.  Buddy will stay at the vet all day & night getting an IV of fluid and heavy antibiotics.  Vet suspects something viral, but is being proactive since it's the end of the week and wants him better by the weekend.  UGH!  Bubba has NEVER been sick like this!  I talked to the vet before they closed today and she said Buddy ate some boiled chicken and kept it down fine.  Seems to be improving since he's gotten some fluids today.  I sure hope we get a call in the morning saying he's doing GREAT and can come home.  It isn't the same without him here :(

Christmas Party at the Library

The girls had a great time at the library.  They made a tree craft, decorated cupcakes, and VISITED WITH SANTA!  This is the way to go for visiting Santa without the chaos of a mall!  Addison told Santa she wanted everything that she sees on tv and made the room erupt with laughter!

She wouldn't sit on his lap, so instead she stood beside him while Alyssa sat on his lap.  Alyssa wasn't happy about it one bit!

Cabin Fever

It been pretty cold lately, so we've been shut up inside and was about to go stir crazy!  Thanks to Mother Nature, today was a beautiful, warm day and we took advantage of it!

Here are the brownies that I made for our trip to the library tomorrow!  We are having our story time Christmas party and Santa will be there!   I ended up with 36, because I had to test a couple and make sure they were edible.  Tomorrow, I'll be baking more for the MDO Christmas party that is Wednesday!

Blake reminded me this morning that when he proposed to me on Thanksgiving in 2004, that he was sick as a dog and it should've been a sign of what was in store for our future!  That really was the start of all his health problems!  Coincidence?  Oh well, we take what life hands us and make lemonade out of the lemons.

We went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant to celebrate and had a great time.  Too often we get wrapped up in being parents that we don't take time to remember we were husband and wife - FIRST.  Now that our babies are getting older and I can handle leaving them for an hour or two at a time we are going to make an effort to have date nights regularly!

2011 Christmas Parade

Saturday was a BIG day!  LSU was playing Georgia and the annual lighted Christmas parade was happening all in the same day - AT THE SAME TIME!  Last year, Blake didn't go to the parade because he was out of town for a wedding.  This year, he didn't go because LSU was playing!  He really missed out because we had a great time!  We got to dance when the marching band passed by, we caught candy, we waived to Mickey, and we got to see Santa.  It was another one of those times where I regret not taking my camera.  Now I have these crappy cellphone pictures and that's it :(  Oh well, better than nothing I guess.

Our nebulizer is still going strong!  Who needs air freshener when you have albuterol!  I've also started breathing treatments for the dreaded bronchitis - again!  My little rugrats are icky germ carriers and love sneezing, snotting, coughing, etc all over me!  It could be worse though!  Blake and Addison are doing okay - for now!

Mom stopped by last week for a quick visit.  They were just passing through, so she didn't stay long.

Rudolph & Hot Cocoa

This week at story time the girls made a reindeer out of their feet and hands!  So stinking cute!  Santa will be at the Christmas party in a couple of weeks and I really hope Addison and Alyssa aren't afraid of him.  Maybe we should make a few trips to the mall and walk around the Santa exhibit, so they can get used to him!

Alyssa has been pretty restless the past couple of nights.  Nursing has been difficult for her and her appetite for solid foods hasn't been great.  I suspected she had an ear infection to go along with the nasty cold.  I was right - double ear infection :(  Poor thing!  I had called the pedi on Tuesday to get an appointment for Wednesday, but they were booked solid and Thursday morning was the earliest we could see the doctor.  It's that time of year where you may be in and out of the pedi office in 30 minutes or 2 hours.  I was prepared with snacks and toys, but this jerk that was there with his son wasn't prepared for a long wait.  He was already mouthing off when we got there at 10:30 (our appointment was at 10:45) about how his appointment was at 10 and he didn't understand why people were being seen before him and how if the patient is 15 minutes late they have to reschedule, but the doctor can make you wait all day.  Needless to say he ended up storming out without his son being seen by the doctor and cussing in a lobby full of children.  Later, the nurse told the jerks wife called and apologized!  I would kill Blake if he behaved that way.
