Who's wondering how the week is going? Well, pick-up was fine yesterday. Drop-off this morning was not fine. I just don't know what to do. I emailed Addison's teacher for advice and feedback. She said that Addison cries when it's time for lunch and time for recess. My take on that means that she's having a hard time transitioning from one activity to the other. The teacher also said that during class if she sees Addison is getting upset then she asks her to help out with recycling and handing assignments out to others. It makes me feel better that the teacher recognizes Addison's emotions and tries to be proactive. She said Addison is a smart and sweet girl and with time things will improve. I sure hope so. Honestly, I can't take another week like this one. I've been so stressed and teetering on the edge of the cliff. This kindergarten shit is hard! I see all of the other kids happily bouncing out of their car and walking into school like it's nothing. I have to drag Addison out of the car and push her towards the door of school.

Little Alyssa cheered me up yesterday morning! She asked why was I sad and why was I crying and gave me a great big smile to let me know that it's going to be okay.

A little later she put on a show for me! I know, I know...I shouldn't be videoing while driving down the road. This is how accidents happen. I know. I took extra precautions and slowed down way below the speed limit and no other traffic was around. I also know that I shouldn't be letting my 3 year old listen to this music. Guess I won't be getting mom of the year. Anyway, enjoy this video!

Kindergarten: Day Three

No tears when I picked Addison up yesterday! YAY! She was a little sad and pouty, but at least no tears. We went to the bakery and bought her a yummy treat. She still said school is too long and she doesn't want to go back.

I got to the school at 2:10 and was FOURTH in line! FOURTH! Guess I know where I'll be spending one hour of every day. Addison came out and the teacher brought her over to the car. She got in and proceeded to buckle herself in the 5 point harness car seat. She buckles herself faster than I could reach back and do it. A teacher asked if I would pull up to the curb and out of the car line while Addison got buckled. She didn't want the car line slowing down. I told the teacher she was almost done and smiled. It's obvious they are more worried about keeping the car line moving than car seat safety. The curb is in the parking lot and about 30 feet out of the car line. I've spent the last 5 years teaching Addison that she must always be buckled in when the car is moving. Driving 2 feet or 30 feet without my child buckled in isn't an option. The car line has room for about 15 cars and they are able to go around if they get their child before the person in front of them.

Addison seemed to really like the new girl at her table. She ate lunch with her and played with her at recess, but then got sad. Her friend, Ava, saw her and asked what was wrong. Addison told her that she missed me and Ava told her that it was going to be okay. How sweet! Addison's favorite part of the day was when they went to the library for story time. Each day they have a different enrichment class (art, music, PE, library). The daily core curriculum includes math, science, social studies, reading, writing.  There will be homework starting next week.

Wednesday Morning 8/28/13
Oh boy! Is it the first day of school? Addison wasn't happy this morning and refused to go into the media room and wait for class to start. She dug her heels in and wouldn't go. A teacher came over and got her to walk in. I saw a friend and asked her to peek in the room to check on Addison. She said Addison was sitting in a teachers lap watching the movie. Not a good way to start the day.

Wednesday Afternoon 8/28/13
I was FIRST in the car line today! When Addison came walking out, I saw a smile on her face and my heart skipped a beat. She got in the car and when I asked her how the day was she said......"I HAD A GOOD DAY"! She was so excited while telling me all about it. Her favorite part of school today was going to the gym for PE. In the morning I'll have to drop her off instead of walking her into class which makes me sad, but I know this is another part of growing & independence that she has to learn. I asked her if she will be able to find her class and she said all she has to do is look for the parrots on the door and find her name. If she doesn't see her name then she will move on to the next door. She said she doesn't need any help! The child I picked up this afternoon isn't the same one I dropped off this morning!

Kindergarten: Day Two

When I picked Addison up yesterday in the car line, she was crying and very sad. She thought I wasn't coming to get her. The line was quite long even though I got there at 2:45 (school is out at 3:10). We sat in the car line hugging and crying together. It didn't matter that a hundred cars were behind us! I promised her that I would be first in line today! She said school was too long and she missed me, but if I gave her a picture of me to look at she would be okay. I printed a picture and taped it to the back of her name tag. After we got settled at home she opened up more about her day and told me all about it. She was the line leader when they went to the cafeteria and to Art class. I asked who she sat with at lunch and she told me she sat by a little boy, but didn't know his name. She said he looked like Goby from Bubble Guppies (see pic below of Goby)! I laughed so hard!

This morning she said she didn't want to go back to kindergarten and wanted to go to preschool instead. I told her that wasn't an option and that she was going to have a better day today. Yesterday, she was the only girl at her table, but this morning I saw the teacher had moved around some kids and now a little girl will be sitting on one side of Addison. She seemed excited about that! There were only a few tears when I was leaving and I stood out in the hall for a minute to make sure she was okay. I asked another mom to snap a picture of the yellow table (didn't want Addison to me hovering). In the picture, Addison isn't crying, but she looks pissed! I really hope that she gets into the groove of school soon. If she's happy, I'm happy. If she's not happy, I'm not happy.

Kindergarten 2013

It's the BIG day! Yes, my baby girl is officially a kindergartener! I'm happy, sad, excited, nervous. I know she is feeling all of the same emotions. She was all smiles getting ready this morning and when we got to her class. When it was time to leave she started to cry a little, so I walked out (didn't want her to see me cry) and left Blake to talk to her. Finally, it was time for him to leave the room, so the teacher went over and talked to Addison. There were a couple of others in class crying too. I know she will do great and I can't wait to hear all about her first day. Praying she doesn't come home and say she doesn't want to go back!

Where'd They Go?

One morning Papaw and Alyssa went out to get the newspaper. They had been gone for a while and I went to check on them. I found Alyssa sitting in the swing and Papaw pushing her. It's pretty awesome to see my babies swing in the same swing as I did when I was little.

Doctor Visits

We managed to knock out a couple of appointments while back home. All of us saw the dentist one day and I saw the eye doctor the next day. Everyone had great check-ups!

These two think going to the dentist is like a play date! The hygienist, dentist, and staff are so wonderful and make the visit fun and stress free!

Dinner Date

My sweet friend J.C. suggested a new restaurant while we were home. Mom joined us and we had a great time as always.

I call this duo Trouble and More Trouble!
