MDO Halloween Party Day

Friday morning I was rushing around getting everything ready for the party at MDO when I got a phone call from the director.  She needed me to work in the nursery since the regular teacher was sick.  My original plan was to go and party with Addison's class and take a million pictures of her and Alyssa.  I agreed to keep the nursery class and sacrifice pictures!  Whew!  5 babies total (Dylan 1, Colten 1, Bryson 2, Izzy 2, Alyssa 15 months).  If I never change another diaper on a baby boy I'll be a very happy girl!

All of the babies were pretty good.  Of course, there was pushing, shoving, snatching toys away, swiping food at lunch, drinking out of random sippy cups, etc.  At nap time I put the babies in their cribs and said a prayer.  I must not have said it loud enough because only one baby went to sleep and the others let me know that a nap wasn't gonna happen!

I survived and most importantly - the babies survived!

New Robes

I've been saying for a while that my girls needed robes.  While we were home last week and doing a little shopping with Memaw we came across the perfect robes!  Thanks Memaw!

I went and got my flu shot today.  Blake & I always try to get ours around the same time as the girls.  CVS Minute Clinic rocks.  It took less than 5 minutes & the girls did great watching mommy get poked in the arm!  Alyssa was fascinated by the band-aid and Addison just kept talking about the shot that she got a few days ago.  My arm hurts like heck now, but this is better than actually getting the flu!  Here's to hoping the flu stays AWAY from our house this season.  Don't forget to get your flu vaccine!

Insect versus Spider

I decided to make a treat for Addison's Halloween party that I found on the Internet.

Now, I realize that my spiders only have 6 legs, so they aren't really spiders.  They are insects.  Really?  I guess I slept in class the day we learned this because I had no idea a spider had to have 8 legs to be a spider & any less was considered an insect.  Hopefully, the 3 year-olds in Addison's class won't notice!  I was tempted to go back and add legs, but although these treats may look simple to make, they aren't.  

First you have to find the perfect Halloween Oreo.  Next, you have to carefully open the cookie without breaking it or destroying the filling.  You should already have the Twizzlers Pull n Peel candy separated and cut to the length that you want the legs to be.  Carefully press the legs into the filling without breaking the cookie.  Before putting the top of the cookie back on I put a little red icing on it to make sure that it would stick back to the legs and filling.  For the eyes the original creation called for Red Hots, but that isn't such a hot idea for 3 year-olds.  I used mini red M&M's instead.  To make them stay on the cookie I put a dab of red icing and then stuck the M&M on top.  Tada!  I'm also taking apple slices, but not trying to do anything fancy with those!  Oh, Alyssa's class is getting store bought sugar cookies & brownie bites.

Alyssa's 15 month well-visit

This week Alyssa went for her well-visit and vaccinations.  She's a tiny little squirt weighing in at 20 pounds (10th percentile) and measuring 28 inches tall (5th percentile).  The pediatrician gave us some samples of Boost, Kid Essentials & Carnation Instant mix to see if we can get more calories and fat in Alyssa since she isn't drinking whole milk.  We are also going to start a vitamin for additional nutrients.  She eats fine just not very much.  Alyssa got 3 shots today and Addison only got the flu vaccine.  My goodness you would think someone cut her foot off to watch her limp around!  Drama Queen!  I had every intention of getting her the Flu Mist (nasal vaccine), but the office was out and waiting on a new order.  I wasn't waiting though.  Now I just need to go get my vaccine this week!

While we were in Louisiana last week it was time for our check-up with the dentist.  Addison couldn't have been better!  She was terrific the whole time!

Alyssa cried and showed her teeth, but wouldn't let anyone touch her.  Maybe next time!  

Library Fun

I finally got around to taking Alyssa for her 12 month blood work (yes, she's 15 months now).  It just made more sense to wait until it was almost time for her next well-visit before getting it done.  We go next week for her well-visit.  She cried and cried during the blood draw, but stopped as soon as the needle came out.  From then on every time she looked at the bandage she would whimper :(  When we got home I took it off and she's fine.

When we pulled up at the hospital for Alyssa's blood work Addison said 'Hey, this is where dada was!  He was in room 333'!  It took me a minute to figure out what she was talking about.  Well, Blake was in the hospital back in August and he was in room 333!  Wow!  She doesn't miss a thing! 

This morning at the library the girls made elephants.  Here are some pictures from my phone.

Before class starts the teacher takes attendance.  All of the children have a picture on the wall with a little blanket attached.  When your name is called you go get a sticker and put it on your blanket.  Next, you get a sticker for your hand/shirt and then it's story/play time!
