Car Line Antics
Since we spend a lot of time in the car line every day to pick up Addison, we find ways to stay entertained. I sit in Addison's car seat and watch movies, we sing, we dance, we nap, we eat snacks.

Flu Mist
I had to stop by the pediatrician's office last week and pick up a form for Alyssa's school. I noticed that the flu vaccine was available, so I went ahead and made an appointment for the girls. The nurse asked if I wanted to get mine too & I said 'sign me up'! This is the first time I've ever been offered the vaccine at the pedi office. It's a convenient option for parents since we are already there anyway! We all got the Flu Mist and are ready to tackle flu season! Hope everyone else gets vaccinated too.
The girls caught a cold last weekend and Monday night Alyssa broke out with a rash. I panicked and thought it may be a reaction to the flu mist. After searching the Internet, I was terrified. Why, oh why do I Google things like this? Blake was my voice of reason and said 'she's fine'. I put hydrocortisone on the rash and gave her Benadryl. The rash would disappear and then pop up in different places! I took her to the pedi Wednesday morning for my piece of mind. The pedi said it's viral hives (from Alyssa's cold) and to continue with the cream and Benadryl as needed. If Alyssa didn't have a cold or any other symptoms other than a rash the pedi would recommend allergy testing. She said if the rash is still around next week to bring her back into the office. The rash is gone for now.

Homework
Every Monday homework is sent home for the week and due on Friday. This week we worked on 'WWW' Word Wall Words/Sight Words, shapes, uppercase/lowercase, book descriptions, and art. Piece of cake for this smarty pants!
Kindergarten: Day 13
Happy Friday! It's been a great week of kindergarten! I'm so proud of Addison and how well she's adjusting now. Watching her get out of the car at drop-off and walk into school is very bittersweet.

Kindergarten Tales
I was laying in the bed with Addison and she started talking about her day at school. She told me about going in the bathroom closet with her teacher. What? Let me try this:
Addison: Mom, do you know what I did today?
Me: No, what did you do today?
Addison: I went in the bathroom closet!
Me: Why did you go in the bathroom closet?
Addison: Well, I went in there with my teacher.
Me: Were there other kids in there too?
Addison: No, just me and the teacher.
Me: Wait! Was there a toilet and sink in there too?
Addison: No, no, no silly! Just a table and chairs! The bathroom closet isn't really in the bathroom. It's beside the bathroom.
Me: Okay! What did you and the teacher do in the closet?
Addison: That's where we do testing. The teacher holds up a piece of paper and I have to tell her which words I know. I didn't know very many though. Just bed, can, and, if, dog, boy, up.
Now I understand that the bathroom closet is only called the bathroom closet because of the proximity to the bathroom. I was about to get worried!
The next story was about a little boy in the library. I wish I had this story on video because her hand gestures were cracking me up!
Addison: I sat by a boy today in the library.
Me: Do you like him? Is he nice?
Addison: Yay-uh (yeah)! He has long hair.
Me: Long hair like Alyssa?
Addison: Well, his hair isn't curly like Alyssa's. It's straight. Like, it's short on the top (imagine her holding her hand above the top of her head) and long in the back (imagine her moving her hand from the top of her head down the back in a slow motion).
Me: So, you mean business in the front (imagine me holding my hand above the top of my head) and party in the back (imagine me moving my hand from the top of my head down the back in a slow motion)?
Addison: Yay-uh (yeah)! Like that.
Me: Oh, he has a mullet!
Addison: Yay-uh (yeah)!

Labor Day 2013
A nice long weekend is just what we needed after the first week of kindergarten

Preschool 2013
It's Alyssa's turn! She did as great, as I expected, when I dropped her off this morning! She couldn't even be bothered to give me a hug and kiss goodbye! Hope there's still a smile on her face when I pick her up.
And on the 7th day of kindergarten.....Addison gave me a hug and a kiss and told me that she loved me and hopped right out of the van with a smile on her face! What the? Who are you? My heart skipped a beat! I hope we have many more mornings like this one!
