Christmas 2011: Texas

We started our Christmas festivities Friday night with Grams, Pappy, Aunt K, and Uncle J via webcam!

Christmas Eve morning we did Santa and stockings.  The girls didn't know what to do with all of the new toys!  We packed up afterwards and headed to Louisiana.

Eric the Elf left a note and a gift for the girls.  This was their one chance to hold him and tell him goodbye, until next year.

Some Stuff

Buddy is back to 100%!  He's eating and playing and trying to kill the mailman as usual!  This dog pisses me off sometimes, but I would be very sad if he died.

After picking Buddy up from the vet on Friday I decided to swing by Chick-fil-A and get lunch for me and the girls.  Oh boy, that was a mistake!  I rear-ended someone on the way back home.  Luckily, nobody was hurt and I didn't get a ticket.  Minor damage to my van and only knocked the trailer hitch off of the 1994 pick-up truck that I hit.  Friday was a crazy day!  I blame it all on Blake's doctor that called in sick.  Blake would have picked up Buddy and got us lunch if that hadn't happened.

 Alyssa loves to get in the pantry.  Since I've been baking a lot recently, the 3rd slide-out shelf has frosting, cake mix, brownie mix, cookie cutters, and mini Christmas M&M's.  Those are MINI M&M's all over the floor in the below picture.

 We've never pulled the girls to church in the wagon, but last Sunday we decided to use it instead of the double stroller.  They loved it, of course.

Buddy Update

Last week, Buddy had an ear infection and was given antibiotics, steroid, and ear drops.  Well, Tuesday he began to act lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink anything.  I took him to the vet yesterday and she thought that his tummy was upset from the medicine and gave him a shot for nausea and anti-nausea medicine to take at home.  Vet said if he wasn't any better to bring him back for blood work.  He never would eat or drink anything yesterday.  This morning he could barely lift his head and showed no excitement over the usual things like going outside or getting a treat.  Alyssa had a follow-up appointment this morning to check her ears, so I had to drop Buddy off at the vet while I took Alyssa to the pediatrician.  Vet called while I was at pediatrician and said that blood work came back normal, but Buddy had a fever and was dehydrated.  Went ahead with an x-ray and it was clear, now waiting for fecal sample test.  Buddy will stay at the vet all day & night getting an IV of fluid and heavy antibiotics.  Vet suspects something viral, but is being proactive since it's the end of the week and wants him better by the weekend.  UGH!  Bubba has NEVER been sick like this!  I talked to the vet before they closed today and she said Buddy ate some boiled chicken and kept it down fine.  Seems to be improving since he's gotten some fluids today.  I sure hope we get a call in the morning saying he's doing GREAT and can come home.  It isn't the same without him here :(

Christmas Party at the Library

The girls had a great time at the library.  They made a tree craft, decorated cupcakes, and VISITED WITH SANTA!  This is the way to go for visiting Santa without the chaos of a mall!  Addison told Santa she wanted everything that she sees on tv and made the room erupt with laughter!

She wouldn't sit on his lap, so instead she stood beside him while Alyssa sat on his lap.  Alyssa wasn't happy about it one bit!

Cabin Fever

It been pretty cold lately, so we've been shut up inside and was about to go stir crazy!  Thanks to Mother Nature, today was a beautiful, warm day and we took advantage of it!

Here are the brownies that I made for our trip to the library tomorrow!  We are having our story time Christmas party and Santa will be there!   I ended up with 36, because I had to test a couple and make sure they were edible.  Tomorrow, I'll be baking more for the MDO Christmas party that is Wednesday!

Happy 6th Anniversary

decided it was a good time to tell me that our DJ fell through!

I was so freaking skinny!  

Blake reminded me this morning that when he proposed to me on Thanksgiving in 2004, that he was sick as a dog and it should've been a sign of what was in store for our future!  That really was the start of all his health problems!  Coincidence?  Oh well, we take what life hands us and make lemonade out of the lemons.

We went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant to celebrate and had a great time.  Too often we get wrapped up in being parents that we don't take time to remember we were husband and wife - FIRST.  Now that our babies are getting older and I can handle leaving them for an hour or two at a time we are going to make an effort to have date nights regularly!
