Fair Day

School was closed on Friday for the fair! We started the day with yummy donuts from the bakery, then later we went to the fair. Little Alyssa wasn't quite big enough to ride anything solo, so someone had to ride with her. Addison wanted to ride BIG rides and couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed. Not only did she not meet the height requirements, but there is NO way she could handle those monster rides! Hell, I don't think I could even handle those monster rides!

Class of 2026

I made this shirt a couple of weeks ago, but just now got around to getting Addison to wear it long enough for a picture. The idea is to take a picture of her in this shirt at the start of each school year until she graduates. I've thought of the different things that could happen to screw this idea up. What if I lose the shirt? I'll get another one. What if she fails a grade? I'll cross out the 6 and put the new number beside it. What if the shirt doesn't fit? I'll still make her wear it.

Festival

We went to a festival a couple of weeks ago. There were train rides, fire trucks, petting zoo, bounce houses, food, and fun! I think the highlight for the girls was watching the helicopter taking off and petting the bunny rabbit.

Preschool Drop-off

One day, I was about to park at preschool and walk Alyssa to her class. She suddenly said 'mom, I want you to drop me off like Addison'. Umm, okay kid. You were just whining and complaining about not wanting to go to school. So, I pulled around back to the drop-off line, she got out, never looked back, I left feeling very confused.

Kindergarten Tales

Addison: Mom, I stayed on blue today!
Me: What does that mean?
Addison: Well, blue means that you were totally good at school, green means that you were a little good at school, yellow means that you weren't good at school, orange means that you have one more chance to be good, pink means that you have to go to the principal's office.
Me: Oh, I see. Have you ever been on yellow, orange or pink?
Addison: No, mom! I usually stay on blue or green. I would be very sad if I got on the other colors.

Addison told me that she got a pencil today, but her friend Avery didn't get one. Addison was nice and gave Avery her pencil and Avery told Addison that the next time she gets a pencil she will give it to Addison. I asked Addison why didn't Avery get a pencil and she said because Avery didn't stay on blue or green today. Seems like the 2 kids she talks about liking the most are the little trouble makers in class! Please let my child always be a leader and NOT a follower!

Car Line Antics

Since we spend a lot of time in the car line every day to pick up Addison, we find ways to stay entertained. I sit in Addison's car seat and watch movies, we sing, we dance, we nap, we eat snacks.

Flu Mist

I had to stop by the pediatrician's office last week and pick up a form for Alyssa's school. I noticed that the flu vaccine was available, so I went ahead and made an appointment for the girls. The nurse asked if I wanted to get mine too & I said 'sign me up'! This is the first time I've ever been offered the vaccine at the pedi office. It's a convenient option for parents since we are already there anyway! We all got the Flu Mist and are ready to tackle flu season! Hope everyone else gets vaccinated too.

The girls caught a cold last weekend and Monday night Alyssa broke out with a rash. I panicked and thought it may be a reaction to the flu mist. After searching the Internet, I was terrified. Why, oh why do I Google things like this? Blake was my voice of reason and said 'she's fine'. I put hydrocortisone on the rash and gave her Benadryl. The rash would disappear and then pop up in different places! I took her to the pedi Wednesday morning for my piece of mind. The pedi said it's viral hives (from Alyssa's cold) and to continue with the cream and Benadryl as needed. If Alyssa didn't have a cold or any other symptoms other than a rash the pedi would recommend allergy testing. She said if the rash is still around next week to bring her back into the office. The rash is gone for now.
