Mini Salon

Last Friday, Alyssa went to the pediatrician for her 2 week ear check.  Her ear is healed and so is her hip/leg that was giving her problems previously.  The pediatrician looked at the pictures I had taken of Alyssa's hives and determined she had a delayed allergic reaction to the antibiotic for her ear.  No more Augmentin for us!

Addison's imagination is out of this world and she's really into pretend play lately.  One day she setup a mini salon in her room and Alyssa was her very patient customer.

Alyssa has seen one too many episodes of Dora.  Now when I say 'let's go change your diaper', 'let's go take a bath', or anything with 'let's go' she says 'vamanos' (Spanish for 'let's go').  When Buddy runs to the door she always asks 'dada home?'.  Talk, talk, talk, talk.

What A Week!

Let's see,  last Sunday Alyssa developed hives.  I dosed her with Benadryl continuously until Tuesday night.  For those 3 days each time the old hives would fade, new ones would pop up.

Tuesday night after dinner, Alyssa fell in the hallway.  I didn't see it happen and neither did Blake.  She didn't cry like it was a bad fall.  I believe she's taken much harder falls.  That night and Wednesday morning she was favoring her left leg.  Walking slowly and not being too adventurous.  I took her to MDO and told Ms K to call me if Alyssa wasn't her usual self.  After I got out of my dr appointment (asthmatic bronchitis) at noon, I checked on Alyssa and Ms K said she was fine.  Once I picked the girls up from MDO and fed them a snack, Alyssa seemed to be in more pain than when I picked her an hour before.  So, I gave her ibuprofen and waited a while to see if that helped.  Around 4pm, I kept trying to get her to walk and move around, but she wouldn't.  I called her pediatrician and she said I could either take her into the office then or observe overnight and take her first thing this morning.  Well, I chose the latter, which I regretted around 10pm last night.  This is one of those times where it's hard not living close to family/friends.  I got the backpack together with snacks, phone, water, diapers, etc and off we went to the ER.  Blake stayed home with Addison.  The x-ray didn't show any injury to her little bones and after the dr examined her he concluded that it was a hip injury and to apply moist heat and continue with ibuprofen/tylenol.  We got home around 2:30am.  She is doing better as the day goes on and is walking more, but still slow and cautious.  Needless to say, I'm sick and exhausted, Blake is tired from waiting up half the night to hear about Alyssa, and our little Addison is well-rested and partying like the true rockstar that she is!  Alyssa has a follow-up appointment in the morning to get her ear re-checked, so the pediatrician will take another look at her little hip/leg.

Our nebulizer died and this is the new one that Addison picked out at the pharmacy.

Last night in the ER, Alyssa was playing on the iPhone.  There is a Dr Seuss ABC app that she has recently started playing.  Well, for the letter C there is a picture of a camel on the ceiling and she kept turning the phone trying to turn the camel the wrong/right way!  It was hilarious because each time she flipped the phone, the screen flipped too!  This went on about 10 flips before she moved on to the next letter.

Hives

Alyssa has hives now and I was looking back at old pictures to see if they look like the same rash Addison had that day.  I remember when Addison was sick on her 2nd birthday with pneumonia and we had to take her to the ER twice that day!  The first trip was for the cough - diagnosed with pneumonia and the second trip was from hives!  I came across our 2010 Elmo family picture!

I'm not sure if it's hives from the antibiotic she just finished yesterday or if it's from a virus.  I'll dose her with Benadryl for 24 hours and see what happens. 

 It doesn't look like the same rash that Addison had in 2010, yet!

Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music

We took the girls to see Sesame Street over the weekend and they loved it.  Addison was really into it and Alyssa was too for the most part.  Intermission was at the 45 minute mark and afterwards Alyssa fell asleep.  She slept through the rest of the show and until I put her in the van.

We got these Elmo outfits for the 'twins' last winter on clearance.  They were the cutest babies at the show!  Blake and I got our shirts for Addison's 2nd birthday since it was Elmo themed.

We got suckered for Big Bird and Zoe stuffed animals.  Zoe is Addison's favorite character and Alyssa was attracted to Big Bird at the time were buying Zoe.

We've learned that you don't have to spend money on the most expensive seats in order to have a great view.  We were on the 7th row and it was perfect.

 Our play dates are numbered with Maggie.  They are about to leave for a job up north and I'm not sure we will still be here when they return.  Hopefully, we will always keep in touch no matter where we are!

Duke Romper

I think it's basketball season?  Duke (Blake's favorite team) played the other day, so I decided to let Alyssa show her Duke love by wearing this romper that was previously worn by Addison!

Happy Mardi Gras

Memaw came to visit us this week and we all enjoyed her visit.  We celebrated her birthday by getting her some balloons (Dora and Thomas), cookie cake, and taking her to dinner at Tokyo.

Some babies get beads for Mardi Gras while others get an iPad!  Well, actually, they got both!  Alyssa was super excited about getting an iPad! 

The girls LOVE how big their games are now!  It's just an oversized iPhone, so they know all of the buttons to push and how to navigate to different apps.  I think we will all get lots of use from it!  Thanks, Memaw!
