Water Park 6/27/16

After 3 summers we finally made it to the water park nearby! We met some friends there and spent the day! There is something for everyone there and we all had a blast!

Louisiana Time

We had already planned to leave for Louisiana on June 1st when school was over. It was perfect timing since the Brazos River was flooding and our neighborhood entrances and exits were being affected. The van was packed and ready to go. Addison's awards was at 8:30 & Alyssa's graduation was at 10. I prayed that we could make it through graduation before all the exits were closed as predicted. We left school, picked up Buddy, and was on the road by 11. It was a great trip and we were so happy to finally go home! We hadn't been since Christmas!

Last Day of Kinder & 2nd Grade

Another school year down and many more to go! I'm super proud of these two! They both got glowing final remarks from their teachers and are great students! Addison received the award for All-A Honor Roll and Alyssa received her kindergarten diploma.

Memorial Day Weekend 2016

We made a quick trip to the lake for Memorial Day. Got there late Friday night and left Sunday afternoon. We had to be back home for a going-away party on Memorial Day.  It was a short, but great weekend!

Tooth #7, Bye!

On June 15, Addison lost her 7th tooth! She's a pro at loosing teeth! Alyssa can't wait to lose a tooth. She's convinced that it will happen on her 6th birthday!

2nd Grade Field Trip

The 2nd grade went to the Museum of Natural Science for their field trip this year. It was as boring as you would imagine.

Purple Rain

Purple Rain was released July 27, 1984. I was barely 12 years old. My first memory of Prince is from my sister and her '1999' cassette tape. That album was released in 1982, so it's safe to say that I've followed Prince for 30+ years. On June 12, 2004, I was able to check an item off of my bucket list. A Prince concert. It was the Musicology tour in Shreveport. I don't have the words to describe the talent that was in the arena that night. 

Prince died April 21, 2016. As a tribute, theaters across the country set Purple Rain to play for 4 days only. Of course, I wanted to see Purple Rain on the big screen, but didn't think it was going to happen. I was thrilled when I found out our local theater was showing Purple Rain on a Sunday afternoon. Grams and Pappy came over and watched the girls while Blake and I went! Even after seeing Purple Rain countless times on the television, nothing compares to seeing it on the big screen!

Prince released Phase One back in September 2015. Phase Two was set to release April 29, 2016. I had pre-ordered it and was worried the release would be postponed because of his death. It wasn't!
