Volunteer of the Month

Yay! My name finally in lights on the school sign! I volunteer at school every chance I get and it's nice to be recognized. Excuse the poor editing job on the school name and the other volunteer names.

Dentist Adventure: Part 3

Addison didn't want the tooth fairy to come Thursday night. She wanted to take her teeth to school on Friday to the school nurse to get a treasure chest. I guess if you lose a tooth at school you get a little treasure chest to keep the tooth in until you get home.  On Friday, I surprised Addison at lunch. I really just wanted to go and check on her and see how she was doing. This whole pulling teeth thing was WAY easier than I ever thought it would be. She never complained with any pain and hasn't had any issues. She doesn't remember anything in between the time she sipped the 'magic' drink and she sat up in the chair after the procedure.

The tooth fairy came Friday night. Addison put her teeth in the little purple velvet pouch and tucked it under her pillow. The fairy brought a new CD, 2 coins, and a certificate. The purple pouch came with a book called 'Twinkle the Tooth Fairy'. My sister bought it when Addison was a baby and we've loved reading it over the last 7 years!

Dentist Adventure: Part 2

Ibuprofen and ice cream is what the doctor ordered! Well, he ordered the ibuprofen and mama ordered the ice cream! We got home and I set Addison up with a blanket on the couch while she ate her sweet treat. When I would go in the other room for something, Alyssa would sit by Addison to keep an 'eye' on her. After she finished the ice cream she was bouncing off the walls and wouldn't sit down! I was nervous about her falling because her balance wasn't 100% yet. So much for a lazy day watching movies! We got ready and went shopping for jazz shoes and a special prize for the special patient. At the dance store Addison found a My Little Pony that she wanted for her prize.

On the way home this happened. Alyssa was devastated that she wasn't getting a prize. 

So, what does any pushover mama do? She pulls in Target and makes everything alright again! Yes, I know this was wrong on so many levels.

Dentist Adventure: Part 1

A couple of months ago, I noticed 2 of Addison's bottom adult teeth were coming in behind her baby teeth. Adult teeth are supposed to come in under the baby tooth in order to dissolve the baby tooth root and make it fall out. At her most recent check-up, the pediatric dentist confirmed what I already knew which meant those baby teeth would need to be removed by him. We couldn't have it done that day since Addison would be sedated and that meant no food or drink after midnight. Last Thursday morning was the BIG day! We got to the office around 9:45 for her 10:00 appointment. A few minutes later we were moved to a dimly lit room with a comfy bean bag and flat screen tv on the wall. The nurse gave Addison a small cup of the 'magic' drink (Versed - This medication is used in children before a procedure or anesthesia to cause drowsiness, decrease anxiety, and cause forgetfulness of the surgery or procedure.). Within 5 minutes my baby girl was completely relaxed and didn't have a care in the world. We had to wait 10 minutes for the medicine to get fully in her system before moving to the procedure room. When it was time, I picked her up and carried her to the other room. The nurse put the nitrous oxide on her and hooked the monitors up to track her vitals. The dentist came in and the whole thing was over by 10:25. Addison was amazing the entire time! We checked out and then got in the elevator and I could tell something was wrong. She had teary eyes and a sad panda face. The medicine was wearing off and she didn't like the way she was feeling. No pain at all, just the drugged sensation. I held her for a little while in the van until she was able to understand that in a short time she would feel normal again. Afterwards, we went and picked up Alyssa and headed home for Addison to rest.

Cinderella

We took the girls to see Cinderella and they loved it! The Frozen Fever clip in the beginning was great too!

Too bad Alyssa didn't get this Cinderella dress before the movie! I know she would have worn it proudly to the theater. A sweet friend handed the dress down to Alyssa since her little girl couldn't fit it anymore.

Catching Up

I haven't blogged since February 21st! Today is April 3rd! Geez! The next 1,000 blog posts will be old and random, but I'll do my best to touch on the highlights of what we've been up to lately.
